Musical Comedy
The standard by which all other musicals are measured. The story of Professor
Henry Higgins' attempt to transform a lowly street vendor from fl ower girl to princess.
Prompted by a challenge from his friend Col. Pickering to “metamorphose the guttersnipe into a paragon of verbal correctitude” Higgins brings Eliza Doolittle into his home for English
language lessons. The ups and downs of the experiment are now classic, but the music
it takes to make the transformation complete never grows old. With Wouldn't It Be Loverly?, With a Little Bit of Luck, The
Rain in Spain, I Could Have Danced All Night, On the Street Where You Live, Get Me to the Church on Time and I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face it's no
wonder everyone—not just Henry Higgins—falls in love with Eliza Doolittle.
